Meet Richard Anderson, PSBA’s new Client Partner Director
Richard will join the PSBA team as its new Client Partner, having spent the last few years working closely with the Welsh Government and public sector organisations as a Business Development Manager in BT’s Public Sector Wales team.
His experience has provided him with a strong foundation, both in terms of understanding the public sector landscape in Wales and establishing relationships, which he is looking forward to building on in his new role.
Tell us about your role and day-to-day focus.
My role as Client Partner is to take overall responsibility for the success of the PSBA contract, making sure we deliver great service today, while also shaping what the future of the network looks like for Wales.
Day to day, that means working closely with the Welsh Government and our public sector customers to understand their priorities, making sure that BT is aligned to those, and ensuring we deliver against both operational performance and longer-term transformation goals.
This involves bringing together our delivery, service, commercial and business development teams to act as one and ensuring we’re focused on what matters most to PSBA organisations. Alongside this, I’ll be focused on strengthening relationships with our Welsh Government colleagues and helping to position PSBA not just as a network, but as a platform that enables better public services across Wales.
What does PSBA mean to you and what impact do you think it’s had on the Welsh public sector?
For me, PSBA is one of the most important pieces of digital infrastructure in Wales. It underpins how public services connect, collaborate and ultimately deliver for citizens in Wales.
What makes it special is its scale and reach. The PSBA network supports hundreds of organisations across health, local government, education, blue light services and others, connecting thousands of sites right across the nation. But beyond the technical side, the real impact is what this enables.
Whether it’s improving access to healthcare, supporting digital learning or enabling frontline services to work more efficiently, PSBA plays a critical role in people’s day-to-day lives, often behind the scenes.
Even in these early stages of my role, I can see the value of the collaboration between BT and the Welsh Government and how a partnership approach has helped PSBA evolve over time.
Looking ahead, what are the key priorities for PSBA to continue supporting public sector organisations across Wales?
Firstly, continuing to deliver a high-quality, reliable service. This is the foundation everything else is built on and it’s critical that we maintain trust with our customers.
Secondly, helping organisations get more value from the network by evolving the PSBA service catalogue, whether that’s through new services, developing the PSBA core network or supporting new ways of working.
Thirdly, strengthening engagement with stakeholders across the Welsh Government and wider public sector, making sure we’re aligned to their strategic priorities and helping them maximise the potential of the PSBA service.
I’m really excited to step into this role at such an important time for PSBA. It’s a fantastic opportunity to build on the strong foundations already in place and to work closely with our customers and partners to continue delivering real value for public services and communities across Wales.
