Transforming information access across North Wales

Staff required reliable access to systems when working across multiple locations. Roaming connectivity and increased bandwidth now enable secure access to information across the network.

The Challenge

Betsi Cadwaladr University Health Board operates across 110 sites and supports around 16,500 staff. Staff needed reliable access to digital systems across a large geographical area. Connectivity limitations were affecting the ability to access systems from multiple locations.

The introduction of the Welsh Community Care Information System (WCCIS) increased the need for secure remote access. Improved connectivity was required to enable staff to access systems wherever they were working.

The Solution

We introduced PSBA Roaming to provide secure network access across multiple sites. The service enabled staff to access systems when working at other PSBA-enabled locations. This increased the number of locations where staff could connect securely.

The improved connectivity also supported systems such as Picture Archiving and Communication Systems (PACS) used for radiology images. Staff can now access information more easily while working across the region.
