North Wales Fire and Rescue Service

Reliable connectivity is essential for operational communications and training systems. Network upgrades improved reliability and allowed faster sharing of digital operational information across the service.

The Challenge

North Wales Fire and Rescue Service protects a population of around 680,000 people across 2,500 square miles. The organisation operates across 49 sites, including 44 fire stations. Many stations are located in rural areas where high-speed connectivity was difficult to obtain.

Slow connections affected training systems and the distribution of operational information. Reliable connectivity was required to ensure alerts and information could reach firefighters quickly.

The Solution

We delivered improved connectivity using a mixture of network technologies. Stations now benefit from faster and more reliable connections. The improved network supports the transmission of digital information to more than 100 fire appliances.

Mobile data terminals allow firefighters to receive operational intelligence when responding to incidents. The network also supports collaboration with other public sector organisations through MOSS.
