A cost-effective, future-ready alternative to traditional voice networks – PSBA’s SIP service helps public sector organisations in Wales streamline communications, reduce operational spend and support more flexible ways of working.

Overview of the PSBA SIP service

  • IP-based voice service using SIP trunks and channels.
  • Connects a SIP-enabled PBX.
  • Lets you retain existing hardware, avoiding full system replacement.
  • Prices start from £3.50 per channel – ideal for managing public budgets.
  • Competitive national and local call rates.
  • No additional circuits or fees for PSBA-connected sites.
  • Combines voice and data onto a secure, resilient network.

OVERVIEW OF THE PSBA SIP SERVICE:

PSBA SIP helps consolidate infrastructure and simplify management – supporting hybrid working and better collaboration between teams and sites. It also reduces the need for multiple systems, freeing up time and resources to focus on delivering services.

Each SIP trunk includes a defined number of channels (each carrying one call), with trunks grouped to allocate capacity to key functions, such as contact centres or department-specific numbers.

NEED A QUICK REFRESHER?

SIP channel – The capacity to carry one phone call.
SIP trunk – A connection with a set number of channels.
SIP trunk group – A container that holds multiple trunks.
This setup helps you separate voice capacity – for example, between your contact centre and your internal teams.
